yes they are long lasting.... but u dont keep ur hook in the water 24/7 365 as if it where in a fish!!! the salt and acids of the stomach dissolve that hook alot quicker. so me putting a "hook in a glass of water" wont prove a thing

and they are not using large gauged hooks for those small rays!
Regardless of that it would take years to make that hook disolve... I'm interested in seeing someone try this experiment... what acids are similar to the stomach? I'll do it if I can get my hands on some.

Parietal cells produce hydrochloric acid, a strong acid that helps to break down food. The acid in your stomach is so concentrated that if you were to place a drop on a piece of wood, it would eat right through it. The g-cells produce gastrin, a hormone that facilitates the production of hydrochloric acid by the parietal cells.

there ya go!!! wanna place some bets.......

Food for thought..... People poopin pennies.

Must take a while to disolve these hooks.

What are we betting on? you have never kept a gut hooked ray, you have no idea how a ray reacts to this situation.

OK, I bet you have no idea what you are talking about, anybody like to take this bet?

Anyone want to swallow a hook and see if it comes out the other end? :nilly:

Either way, just think of the poor ray or any other fish that is gut hooked and thrown in a fish tank.

dont get ur panties in a knot reverse!!!!

turtles can survive being gut hooked. i have caught many snappers as a kid and had to cut the line becus he swwallowed the hook.
