Welcome,

MFK + oscars + 55g tanks = Bad news LoL

Welcome! As long as you post and start threads, you will hear opinions, some of which you won't like. The only way to avoid criticism is to not post anything at all. I think this goes for every public forum. Just be aware that the majority of the people here will only give you what they think of as good advice. They may truly believe that their fish are happy and healthy, when in fact sometimes they just aren't. You may be shocked to know how many threads have been started about multiple Oscars living in very small tanks together. Things like that will cause many members to say a few things. Sometimes its minor details that can help the OP improve an already excellent tank and stock. It all depends on the situation. If your biggest tanks are 55s for your large cichlids, expect to hear some criticism. I hope you find what you're looking for on MFK. Keep an open mind and continue to learn and grow in the hobby.

Well said.

OP, the people on the other forums know you better than we do since you just started here. I'm a (rather inactive) member of other fish forums and people here or there ususally tell you that stuff for a reason. If everyone on your other site was flaming you, or running their mouths as you say, maybe you should listen to some their advice. And since you're so worried everyone will flame you here too, something in the back of your mind knows your old friends must be somewhat correct with their opinions. You can learn a lot around here from the right people.

gotta say you post in a public forum your gonna get public opinion, whether you like it or not. and yes 55g are to small for large cichlids.

+1 if you didnt wanna hear our opinions on the subject you post about you could have just browsed the site and then searched on google.

People n this forum generally take well to some good criticism. If someone thinks your doing something that is unhealthy for your fish they're going to let you know about it. Most of the time in a nice way at first. The second, Third, and fourth probably wont be as sincere.

Buuut Welcome to MFK....

Welcome aboard.

If you guys have two separate email addresses you can create two separate screen names, one josh and one tarri. That way you won't have to keep identifying yourself in every post. Just an idea...

Unfortunatly that is not a good option, they may very well get perma banned on accident, if there is more than one account tied to an IP. Multiple accounts for the same user are against the TOS. I'll ask the other mods their thoughts on the matter though since this is clearly two different people.

Josh and Terri, the type of fish you keep are commonly not kept well and members tend to assume new folks do not care for them well (speaking in general terms of course). New to MFK doesn't mean new to the hobby all of the time though and I think some folks forget that. Perhaps you could start a thread and showcase your tanks and collection we everyone can see your the care your putting into keeping them? I would love to see your setups and fish. :D I disagree this forum is like others as I am a member on a few boards and even amonst MFK's sister sites like AC and AP, MFK is still the best in my opinion.

Welcome,

I am not new to the hobby. I am not clueless to the size, temperament, and needs of our fish. I appreciate your concern and everyone else. We are seeing who goes well with each other. We have space to move EVERY fish when we need to right now we have all small 4in" and down. Also I would like to explain a little about my husband. The last site we were on we never got any answers just criticism about what we are doing wrong and what fish we should sale. It is very upsetting to be made to feel stupid. We take good care of our fish each tank cleaned weekly fish count and check daily. We do listen and follow advice. He is new to hobby and a little sensitive about his fish. We have not even used our tv for months lol. Thank you for reading and I do welcome any advice that is given I do not know everything and some times very hard to find out on line info. Thanks again. Tarri
