Yeah. He's 6" and the congicus is now 15.25". I'll keep you guys posted.

I have larger size differences in my tank and for the most part everyone is fine if they are kept well fed. If your congicus is anything like mine I wouldn't have any second thoughts, but then again like most everyone else here has said bichirs will be bichirs and if it fits in it's mouth it might try eventually.

I'm removing him as soon as I can, as previously stated. The other two grow outs have been fine for a week now, but I don't see a reason why I can't just wait another month. My tank is heavily planted or he would already be removed. I'm sitting in front of the glass waiting with two nets now. Hate that I put him through all that stress for nothing. :(

My 12" teug decapitated my 4" ornate never saw any other aggression from him

It's a personal thing imo. You have more information than us, observation, tank perimeters and feeding. I, as a forum poster will always recommend against it because bichir are predatory by nature. I make similar judgement calls, but when I do I don't ask for advice because I research it first and know that all of the responsibility belongs to me. You've heard both sides of the coin, and it is your investment. Why risk what you don't have to?

I think you might have misread my last two posts in this thread. The plan is to remove him as soon as possible. I've been observing all night waiting for an opportunity. The tank is chocked full of hiding places. Trying to scoop him up is frustrating.

By the way, I'm not asking because I'm clueless on the subject or incapable of making a judgement call. I simply enjoy discussion. We're all friends in this subforum.
:p

That was a great response.

Glad you decided against it. Definitely a big risk and in my experience, confirms are one of the least trustworthy.

I had read your post, I was halfway playing devils advocate. I was making more of a generalized statement about situations like these. It Wasn't really directed at you specifically because you had made a decision, sorry if that wasn't clear.

I've got some 12-13" Congicus with some 5-6" Endlies and I've got no issues. The big guys have had ample opportunity to snack on the babies but haven't. Just keep them fat and you'll be okay.
