hopilas microlepis

Hoplias microlepis is an interesting species as it only occurs in the west side of the Andes Cordillera. This includes coastal rivers from Ecuador through Panama.
Nobody´s ever done a research on this species. The other poster was correct in that the microlepis does not have the common lateral line with the vertical bars. True identity of microlepis is still unknown. Ive talked to ichthologist who studies the hoplias. And hes not not sure where the orginal microlepis is deposited. I do want to find out, because iam interested in this sp. The thing is, there is only two species of Hoplias from the west of the Andes are H microlepis and H malabaricus. Ill be getting some Taxon info which in there has an entry on the microlepis. I read that the Microlepis have a smaller head and smaller scales as well. There is no microlepis in the USA or in Japan. At least that anyones ever posted on the these fish boards including WW etc.

But here are some genuine mircos to wet your appetite.
