Hoplarchus psittacus help

Yep, baby parrots show the dark juvenile stripes and dont really 'pop' with the green/blue colors until older. Until then feed them a high quality pellet as a daily staple. I am currently feeding mine Xtreme Aquatics sinking pellets. He is just starting to get his coloring in at 6.5". Will probably still be awhile till I see his true colors.
 
I lost my male a month or so ago and he was 14" when I measured him. He was only 2 years old. I would not keep them in anything less than a six foot tank, preferably 6'x2'. As it is your tank will already be overstocked without any additional cichlid tankmates.
