Hello, I am going to soon take possession of my dream tank. 7ftx2ftx2ft and around 220 gallons, it will have 2 FX6's, sand substrate and plenty of rock and bogwood aquascaping. It the tank will be my current stock (currently at my lfs after house move) 12 inch Fahaka and 6 inch jaguar cichlid. The plan is then to add a red terror cichlid, ornate birchir and then the Hoplias Curipura.

My question is would this work? If all the other fish were similar size or bigger?

Thanks

I would say no. The jag and Ted terror will be an issue due to territorial squabbles. I wouldn't put a fahaka puffer in with any fish. You may have the exception with tolerance with the group of fish.

Curus are a bit more aggressive and if the tank was much much bigger would say try and see.

Just IMO.

Cool figured it was a bit optimistic, but you know dream tank = dream fish. Would a Curupira be okay in a 5ft length 2ft height 16 inches width? That's my is tanks that waiting to be set up in the new house.

Hard to say as curus are not completely figured out size wise in home aqauriums. In the wild they supposedly can reach 30 inches. But cant find any monsters in home aquariums. But will reach likely 15-18 inches. So is say it's fine for now.

Hard to say with puffers and wolves. The curu will try to Dominate the tank for sure.

The only problem I see is the puffer.. Possibly the wolf depending on the specimen. Red terror, you're referring to a mota? If so I've no personal experience with them but have read they're not as hardy or tough when it comes to dealing with aggression as other big cichlids, such as a jag. Idk how true that is having never kept one, but I will say I had a big male jag keep a similar sized mala in its place and the mala chilled out after that. This is just one case though. And curus can be a little more territorial, and a little more active, all depending on the specimen of course. I think the jag and wolf would be fine depending on the size difference, the mota, that's your call, the puffer might pose a problem. Also if the wolf ends up being the dominant fish, he may not accept the rest if they're in his face, took me some time to find what my curu will allow besides bichirs once he became dominant over everyone. Only fish I've had since day one that the curu hasn't killed and isn't a bichir is my odoe, and he just manages to outrun the curu

The big issues with cichlids is they are aggressive and dominant. They just don't have the hardware like a wolf but still can do damage. cichlids do well with other cichlids. Wolves do well when other fish let them be the boss of the tank or completely get ignored like bichirs. Just don't see it happening.
