Ok Guys, I have been out of town, so that's why I have not reponded. All of these fish were caught in the Rio Uruguay drianage around Bella Union, where there are no malabaricus. There are two species of green Hoplias, H. lacerdae and an even rarer undiscribed species. I had our guide Felipe Cantera look at all my Hoplias and confirm they were H. lacerdae. I will go with his identification any day. I had 7 and they all looked alike to me. At worse cause senerio they are the rarer undiscribed species. But most definantly not malabaricus. Ken

Ken i based my purchase on the picture you have posted of the juvi H.Lacerdae. The fish received looks nothing like it. If all 7 looked alike why that one out of that 7 i received looked nothing like the H.Lacrerdae you posted for sale. If you have posted your worst case senerio earlier I would not have purchased the fish to wait to find out its not a H.Lacerdae.

Here is a pic of the fish i received from you...to the right is the fish your where suppose to send out.

Well, after pulling both of them out of their tanks, and taking close up pics....... I am in agreement, they are Mala.

That Hoplias is not a malabaricus,,,,´
The diff. between these 2 species are big,,,,,if you have time and will see ONE of the diff., go to my site; www.aqvaterra.com
Then to ¨cichlids/other fishes¨, and then the pic nr. 34 under TETRAS

Thank You Felipe, Felipe is the only exporter in Uruguay, has been our guide on both our collecting trips and an expert on all the fsh in the country. Micheal (hdoddballs) I don't know where you got your info from, but it is wrong. There's my expert! Ken
