Hoplicas Curupira (Black Wolf)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
*Thanks for kind words. I'm trying to house them together for experiment. It's either a hit or a miss (more likely will be a miss cause the Aimara already ate one Mala).
**I don't use cover on all my tanks, I don't have issue with fish jump of my tank and got dry up on the floor for last couple decades :p (Like I always said many times in some other threads *Fish only jump out of your tank when you don't have a right setup for them*) :p Also, I have plenty of pothos on top of my tank so my fish kinda knew the border limit. :)
*NOTE: This comment DO NOT APPLY to Arowana species (or other species with same habit) cause they would jump out trying to catch something look like yummy food to them*

I see, with all the driftwoods and plants, i don't think the wolves would bother coming out haha, better to stay in the shade than in the open :)
What are the sizes for your wolf fishes??

Lac is around 7 inches
4x Mala 6 inches (used to have 6 but Lac killed the smallest one and Aimara killed 1)
Aimara close to 11 inches
*Lac and Malas getting along fine at their size for now (they living together for quite sometime before I introduced the Aimara), Aimara is a trouble maker cause it's a biggest one. :)

I'll wait for another week if its still make a comfy stay hidden in its cave then I'll re-décor thing around to get it more active lol
Its eat like a pig though, any foods dropped in front of its cave it will devour all.

I think it's because he's the largest one you will have problems.

Yeah, I will mess around with my DW and plants, I might take some DW out and re arrange my plants on both sides of the tank with minimal of DW work (I couldn't stand with bare tank lol it must have some green in it :)). I woke up in middle of the night and saw it patrolling the tank and its look awesome even under blue moon light :P

Wolf is more readily for any meaty foods, all my wolfs took frozen food next meal schedule without any train/starve them like other predators.

Currently the wolf is feeding on ghost shrimps and small guppies, will let it eat market prawns, cause the wolf has no chance to eat the mp as all the indo datnoid would snatch the food first

You will have to over feed your Dats a bit until your wolf recognize the market prawn is his food source then it will come up near surface and wait for it, then there is no change for dats to get food first lol it will chase other away until its belly filled up.
