Horns/Spikes growing on Disc

Have you guys ever seen rays with huge horns/spikes growing on the disc?
And I'm not referring to those many small spikes near the tail but outstandingly big ones on any part of the ray's disc.

Is it normal? and what causes it?

Yep it's normal. They are due to hormones, like a spotty teenager.

my big motoro has them nearly all the way round the disc
they are about 1cm long
