That is a poor statement. I have worked in, and shopped at many shops that are not like that at all. The generalization is a bad statement. There are two types of LFS I see regularly. Shops like that one, and shops that are on a completely different level.santoury;771249;771249 said:Don't tell me y'all are surprised..........
This is a FISH STORE, guys... unfortunately this is very, very common. I mean, EVERY fish store has a tank like that one way or other, if not ALL of them, like that.
To rant about this one tank means we should in fact be ranting about EVERY LFS.
I agree that the conditions there are quite sad, however, I don't think that is a 10 gallon. It looks like it is 15-20 gallons. It is a shame that this happens. Just make sure to not support them, and hope that they go under.tankyou;770261;770261 said:LFS has all like 13 or so silver arowana in a 10 GALLON TANK. Notice the dead one...or two...at the bottom of the tank???? The sale price is 49.99 each and these arows are 4-5". I hate this LFS...crappy service and they think they know better than ervyone else. Tried to tell me 82-84 degrees is to "hot" for my healthy arowana tank. Will never go there again. I took a pic ha ha ha and i want to share with you. The name of the LFS is Texas Tropical, San Antonio Texas. I just walked out......shaking my head.

Yes I have. I have worked in shops that maintain a high standard. Overstocking tanks in these shops is not the same issue as overstocking a private aquarium IMO. These fish are only there to be sold, and if you house them all in the proper aquarium size for long term housing, many fish would not be seen. Also, overstocking isn't a big issue in many good shops due to the filtration. One shop in particular I worked at ran a 250 gallon wet/dry on a 200 gallon rack. Although, the tank pictured definitely not a good sign, but I have never seen anything like that out of a good shop. Several good shops near me are in great shape. The occasional dead fish is impossible to avoid in the trade, just due to the sheer volume.santoury;771707;771707 said:I hope you noticed that I included the GOOD stores having at least ONE tank like that. Can you honestly tell me that you have been to a store where EACH and EVERY aquarium was pristine, and not overstocked? I am not talking about the LFS in which MOST of the tanks are like this.
