Horribly Wounded Endli... Please Help.

Hi guys,
My gar who has been perfectly docile and living with my bichirs for more then half a year suddenly went berserk, killed a 4 inch NTT and horribly maimed my endli. My endlis tail is totally shredded to bits!

Please advice, what can i do to help my horribly wounded endli survive his wounds.

Needless to say the gar is gone now.

give nothing, just let it be for a while but keep an eye on your water for possible bacteria infections. That wound will heal it self.

The usual im going to presume, make sure your water keeps pure to save disease so regular water changes and maybe a form of treatment such as melafix the help the healing !!!

Done and Done. The wound looks a little infected... Red.

On the plus side, it still seems to be eating. I hope that is a good sign.

Would his tail grow back? Anybody else experienced bad tail damage on their Bichir and experienced full recovery?

I wonder why my Gar suddenly turned mean.

ya dont worry to much about it. just watch for infection. but he will recover from that for sure.

Just add half dose of salt in your tank to ward off infections. Keep your water clean and be patience with the healing process. The tail will grow back but it might not be perfect looking. Gars are nice until they hit 15" then they create havoc of tankmates.

Clean water and salt all should be fine bichirs are hardy.

dont worry too much. my ornate battered my palmas for weeks and its tail and anal fin were red as a cherry. frequent water changes and the redness has gone, just waiting for the fins to grow back but its looking good so far. good luck
