A note ! If you choose to use mela fix add an airstone or at the least lower your water level a tad to increase surface agitation from HOB's or canister outlets (If you have them) Melafix is notorious for reducing available oxygen in the water.
I personally would use salt (1/2-3/4 regular dosage) and large frequent water changes.
