Horrid

I can't imagine what the damage that the chicks caused the snakes... Not only they gambled with the snake's health, it was unnecessary for the feeders to undergo such a long period of stress.

when i played the video of the snake and chick.

my great dane jumped up from sleeping and went searching for a baby chick...

when we used to live in the country, she guarded the baby chickens from coons coyotes and such....so she spazzed

but yea i couldnt imagine the ill effects of it

That is the most disgusting out of all of them IMO. Too much of these things go on, the ripping out of fangs, sewing the mouth shut. To me that is what's dispicable, and it saddens me.

With the live food, I'm not a big fan of it myself, but would use it if I had to if I had a troublesome feeder. I don't see much point when you are doing it for your own enjoyment. Some people keep reptiles for the wrong reason, which is a shame. However it is interesting to watch them hunt something live, but i think once you've seen it once, you've seen it all... no point in letting accidents happen with live food.

That Python eating the chick was discusting. Talk about unjust. How many people would be able to look at the chick in the eye when its halfway down the pythons throat... and cheeping and trying to escape as best it can without feeling immorally wrong and a bad person? Its really, really sad to see that, judging by the fact the snake never killed the chick (which obviously it could do easily) shouldnt it be fed on dead food? Its just in my experience.. if I feed a strike feeder.. he constricts the mouse until he thinks it is dead (because he thought it was live and is the only way he would feed) where as one of my snakes wont eat if he thinks the mouse IS live, and never ever constricts. I've noticed it alot with my pet snakes I've had and Its just my opinion but they should really give it a try on F/T.

Constrictors are suppose to do that. If you noticed, you can see the lump of a previous meal before the chicks. That means the owners stuck a live chick down their jaws before the pythons had a chance to stop and constrict again. You never see the snakes striking the birds, just moving it down their jawline.

It is the same reaosn why people post live rabbit feedings and feeding live mice to piranhas and basses -- they enjoy seeing their pet making a bloody mess. In this case -- consume a living thing.

Nope, I didnt notice, how did they manage to shove the chick in its mouth, I'm suprised they didnt get bitten??

you could do it a number of ways. All my snakes eat pre-killed currently, it's not that important to me if they strike feed or not- i'd prefer to know they are eating it the right way and not manage to hurt themselves, which very occasionally happens. I think you've got to be a little bit sick to do the chick thing and derive entertainment, as it doesn't show any respect for life, and shouldn't really be keeping the snake in the first place.

because people are downright mean. And getting meaner ( the increasing lack of values and objectives is worsening the problem ). And youtube and all other "globalization" media bear a cetrtain portion of th eresponsibility for this very sorry state of affairs....

IMO

Same as Davo. The only reason one strike feeds and the other doesnt is because thats what they do..I havent changed them to do it or not, they just wont feed any other way.

Whilst were on the subject, how would you get a large boid to stop strike feeding? Is it possible?
