I can imagine one of those creatures being eaten by a bass and quickly being spit out after it bit the inside of the bass' mouth.

Noted,and wasn't aware that they ate crays.I thought they only ate smaller fish.

LMB are usually top predators. They will eat anything that fits in their mouth. Snakes, Rats,frogs, even baby ducks.
