I found this article interesting. In California this part of our recent "Big News".
https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/11/us/santa-anita-horse-deaths-history/index.html
I am not saying that there is anything good about horses deaths. I'm just saying that just because it's in the "news" doesn't mean it's news.
The news media appears to follow itself. Rather than trying to keep us appraised it wants to see what's trending and what we "want" to see or read.
If one place reports something it may very well get reported again and again. Thus we only get fragments of info.
Venezuela had an uprising but it "fizzled out". Nobody's reporting. But things are happening. But it's not "hot" news right now.
Don't let the media skew how you think. I read news all the time but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Sensationalism and lots of stuff not reported or know.

While I agree with you what a POS the media is, I think there is something wrong with the track mentioned. I myself am wondering if people like Peta are going to get involved. Do you think they'll take on horse racing? Idk

You know something Rock, for all of their antics and shenanigans I have never heard of PETA making any kind of protest against horseracing...kind of shows how full of **** that they are if they havent.

PETA is getting involved. In the article it talks about other racing venues and similar if not higher death rates.

Definitely. Until Dave mentioned it, I didn't know they were involved. From what I know, it is pretty sad.

Right.I have never taken enough interest in horse racing to watch or follow very much of it but I would imagine that some amount of animal abuse goes on behind the scenes and I would suspect that they would have been a prime target for PETA years ago.

I understand PETA's ideals, and I'd support them for them, if they actually kept to them. While I do support them giving light to abusive pet retailers like in chain stores and skin/fur trades, they do put out alot of bs like their videos on fishkeepers. My main problem with them in those cases is that they don't get enough information on certain subjects before they bash them. For example, they say how all sw fish are being 'ripped from their' homes and nothing's being done about it, and how fishkeeping or wild caught fish should be boycotted or some bs like that.
Like I said they don't get enough info on the subject, because alot of breeders are working on captive breeding more and more saltwater species, like tangs, damsels, and angels. Clowns, dottybacks, gobies, and cardinals are already established and successfully bred in captivity.
just my two cents

I have a friend who has raced horses. He told me he thinks the horses are dying because the track is not being prepared properly. (Something about drainage)If that is true, that's F'd up. It makes sense. These horses are breaking their legs, so they end up shot. I still wonder if with technology now, that has to happen?
