hospital/grow out tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also forgot to mention, I do have other small fish in the same tank with my oscars, they're 3-4" and no one bothers anyone, they've been together in there for awhile now. Oscars are 6 or 7" tiger and albino 10" those are guess's for the size

I would put him in there and keep a close eye to make sure he doesnt get bullyied. Also you could always put one of your small fish or minnow in the hospital tank and if survives then you put that main fish you want in there. I have done this proces before too.

You would put him were my 75g or the big main tank with divider ?

I just usure of the 10g as I know my big main tank and 75 are both very well established ! I just don't wanna lose him since there rare fish to find in my area and been looking for a bit for em and finally found a few lol

so i just did a water test for nitrates in my little 10g tank... now you must member i have 10-20ppm in my tap water already, and in my little 10g tank i have had nothing in for i dont know how long quite awhile now is between 20ppm and 40ppm on my API liquid freshwater master test kit...it isnt exactly red 940ppm) and isnt excatly orange (20ppm) so lets say 30ppm ?

i threw a couple peice of food in there so it knda helps as well... im still on the fence of getting egg crate to divide my main big tank and keep them in there not sure ...

If you have the master test kit, you probably won't hurt the fish to throw him in there so long as you test for ammo/nitrite every day.

If this is something you can wait a week or two on, go buy a handful of feeder goldfish and put them in the hosp. tank. They'll keep whatever bacteria is there going and in a week you'll be able to test for ammo/ nitrite to see if your colony is doing well enough for whatever you want. If there is ammo or nitrite, you know you need to wait a bit more. If there's none after a week with 10 goldies in there you should be good to go.

Actually I'm going to the fish store 2morrow to get my PB, outta the 50 they had at start of week only 10-15 left now... There about 3" he said on the phone, so thinking of adding them into my big main tank with just egg crate to divide the tank on one side not in half something like 1/3rd for the PB and 2/3rds for the others

so i picked up my PB today and they are TINY ! i bet only 2" if that.... so i have a breeder net hanging in my 75g right now with them in it so no one can get at them and no one eats em, and then when i feed them they eat everything i feed rather then fight over it
