Hot glue instead of silicone?

ok so im scratching the idea of a wet dry and ima work with the filters that i have. so im going to be making in tank filters for my two power heads using pvc.
and i was wondering if i can use a hot glue gun to glue part of the pvc to my power head.. would it harm the fish or should i just use silicone.

I dont hot glue or silicone are good material to glue pvc... what you need is the stuff they offer in home depot.. where they join pvc pipes together..
Its call pvc cement..

Its cheaper in home depot.. $3.50 to 7 bucks a bottle

once it dries it should be aquarium safe / drinking water safe i believe

im not glueing the pvc together. i want to glue a part of the pvc to the powerhead if that clears some if it up./

ah.... ic ic. the problem i see with silicone is after a couple days and all the pressure it will just push the piece of pvc off. i would still go with the pvc cement. or some how maybe threading the piece and using rubber rings to add a friction type of bond.

Hot glue does not hold at all when submerged, tried it many times.

Honestly.. the best is either to use pvc cement to glue it.. or to use plastic hose as connectors... what size are these PVC pipe your talking about.. a picture would also be great..

Most aquarium hose use 5/8" diameter hose while PVC pipe is rarely in 5/8"
Its either 1/2" 3/4" 1" or 2" BUT.. they do sell 5/8" connectors for sprinkler system.. you can find them in home depot with groves.. and it'll fit much better with PVC than glue..

That's one option for you if you want aquarium safe..

Post a picture of your powerhead.. it'll give members a better idea on what your trying to do.

Hot glue will not work, does not do well in water, I dont thing PVC glue is an option either. I would use silicone to attach the part of the power head to the PVC. I use to attach powerheads to mag floats using silicone.
