HOT MAGNUM 350 help

I had one of these back when they came out and I was young young young, hated it because it clogged all the time or so fast. Now that I am a big boy lol, I know I can use whatever media I want, seems these filters hold up over time.

On my 125 I got a AC110, looking at the hot 350 since I hear its quiet and reliable for my second filter. Can I put ceramic in the basket and rap that with blue filter pads???????

Or should I stay away from hots still?

i know this doesnt answer your question but you can answer mine. How does that ac110 do on your noise level test?

I don't think there is a HOT (hang on tank) mag 350... Do you mean the HOT mag 250, or the 350 that's like a traditional canister that sits below the tank?

traditional, but I can get the eheim 2215 for about the same price and with my ac110 wouldnt that be fine?

i know this doesnt answer your question but you can answer mine. How does that ac110 do on your noise level test?

weeeelllllllll.......it was great at start up, but I do have pool sand, and I think just while clearing up the water,though I rinsed it, from start it now is louder than I hoped. Ive taken it all apart and its spotless so the only thing I havnt done is lubed the metal shaft. Might help. Its not as bad today so maybe once it gets a little slimy.

Im just worried if I get one more that I might be a bit more sensitive to the noise. We will see. If I hate it later I will just change.

i would stay away from the magnum series. If bio is what you need then eheim is great, i had a magnum and i have a eheim 2217 right now and i must say i like the ehiem a billion times more than the magnum. So stay away from magnums, there are better filters out there.

yeah its possible, I crammed my magnum full of biomax but it just doesn't hold much at all....but...im running it on a 5 gallon so its wayyyyyyyyy overkill anyways, stuck some black aquarium filter foam over the intake to help keep the bigger stuff out and made a spraybar and it works great and is super quiet.
