The magnum series are outstanding at getting your water clean, period.
The micron cartridge is the only media I would run in either the HOT250 or the 350.
As was said, the media baskets hold very little and are quite restrictive.
I get better flow using the micron cartridge than the media basket.
If you want a full feature canister, the magnum isn`t for you.

If it's a Marineland filter you like then maybe try one of the c-series canister filters. They have great stackable media baskets for all stages of filtration. The Marineland c-530 would be perfect for ya. 4 media baskets plus they come with all the media and sell them seperate for replacement. They are an extreme upgrade canister filter from their Magnum series. I also have owned a Magnum 350 for many years that has laid down over 2 years now and Im still trying to fix it.
