sam has been out of the tank twice without my permission....the first time the tank was open and we spooked him.....the second time he knocked the old lid off on his own

crazy to think of grabbing a flopping fish that big and getting him back in the tank.

it took two of us....rolled sam in a moving blanket and up two ladders ( side by side) .....luck and hard work...... probably 150+ pounds

i almost caught sam but decided against it.

i am trying to remove the lace from from the tank ( 5000 lbs ) and replace it with wood.

michael my son had worked in the tank for about an hour hauling some rocks and driftwood. sam was fine and as usual curious about anything we do in his tank.

michael got out and went upstairs to change, cybr was helping and went out to make a call.........i was just cleaning up and such about 30 minutes after michael had got out of the tank.....sam gave me a funny look took a big gulp of air went down and blasted up pushing the plastic covering aside.........hesitated a moment half in half out right where i was standing.....i stepped out of the way and sam came crashing down from about 7 feet in the air on to the concrete


i am now screaming for cybr and try to cover sams eyes with my tee shirt which didnt go well although its a stunt i have used many times for fish that have come flying out of the water..........it covers their eyes which calms them and make a great handle to lift with....i digress

with luck i use large moving blankets to insulate my filters......we grabbed one and rolled the trashing sam up tightly. using the ss steel permanent ladder and a 8 foot step ladder it took most of our strength to lift the now bundled sam up and into the water blanket and all.

sam immediately was swimming having only lost a few scales while i lost several years
