There are more fun ways to throw away $25k.
Most of these places, even if fixed up, will be majorly losing investments. Location, location, location.

so negative.. but maybe your right...... i just love to investigate property... because i know some of them just might be a good investment ... not for me.. too old to invest.. but that does not stop me from looking..it ;looks like you guys know everything already... i am just catching up.
25K for a house... Probably not the safest place to live. I still live with my parents, so I don't know much about housing, but I would rather rent a apartment than live in a dangerous area.
In Detroit they probably pay you to live there...

Like many areas, the city I had to relocate to for my job has many homes for sale with few takers. We just bought our 2700 sq/ft 3BR/2BA ranch on an acre that abuts a wildlife refuge for nearly 2/3rds off the original listing price. It's most definately a buyers market nowadays.
