Just wondering if its been done? I want a single species tank for my room and was trying to think of a real monster for it. I was orginally thinking of getting a RD, Red terror, Jag, maybe a dovii, then I thought... PBASS! So just wondering, what would the tank size need to be for a single pbass? I was thinking atleast a 180+

So yeah, just wondering if it would be a good canidate for a single species tank... Thanks.

The thing is, one lone pbass in a 180 is going to look bare, when you can easily add more or an aro without worrying too much about aggression, you'll be tempted to get more.

Cool, But I'm thinking if I was gonna go for a 6x3x2, I'd just get a Jardini aro.

I dont know though, trying to figure out what size tank I'm going to put in my room, and what I can afford to get, and trying to think of a nice big agressive display fish.

I might get a 180 and then get a Black aro, like I really wanted to do last year, and if i have enough cash too do so this year, I probably will. Ofcourse the black aro will need a larger tank but a 180 should be pretty good for a long time.

But yeah, just trying to think of a good display monster, what tank size its going to need, and then trying to figure out how much I'm going to spend on fish+setup before I buy.

I'm going :nilly: trying to decide what to do. Aro, pbass, cichlids, polypterus, dats, catfish, and so on!

If you want a single or a pair of fish for a 180, dovii seems the only way to go

Yeah, was thinking Dovii. It doesnt have to be a single species tank, but I just want something monster. I really wanted an aro or two last year, planned to get a few, but the plan caved and I didnt even want to look at aro's for a long time. But I dunno. It all depends on how much money and space I have. I'd really like a Jar though.

An Orino would be tight, 6x2x2 would work for a while right, possibly a year or two? A long time ago one if my stocking themes was a 180 growout with a black aro, and three pbass, then in a year or two move them too a 300g.

pbass look much better in packs than a single specimen. if you want a truly interactive "glassbanger" that will take attention to people in the room get a male dovii.

Yeah, Dovii seems like a good choice. Maybe a Haitian(sp?) or Blacknasty, those are just awesome looking. Plus, this tanks gotta go upstairs, and 180 is probably the biggest I'd ever put up there. I will be moving to a new house in February wich meens more space, and more tanks. :) But I think a 180 + Male Dovii will help my addiction until I have room for more tanks.
