How’s my stocking for a 125 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you all for the advice, I will certainly take it all into consideration. My girlfriend and I have already discussed the possibility of the EBJD growing up and being too aggressive for the rest of the tank. We are going to give it some time and see how he does, and in the event he is too aggressive we are prepared to set up a separate 55 or 75 gallon tank for him all his own. Fingers crossed that being introduced at a very small size and lots of time me growing up together helps him become more compatible!

We are also planning of grabbing 1-2 more Tapajos this week to finish out the stocking per your advice!

My experience with EBJD, which is somewhat limited, is that they are not nearly as aggro as regular JD. That and quite often their lifespan is limited as general speaking they are not nearly as genetically strong as regular specimens. (due to selective inbreeding) So either way it might work out for you. Good luck.

My reason for not including the jd was because its the only fish of Central American origin.
As Rd said, they don't tend to be as aggressive as the original jd.
I think the most probable cause of aggression in your tank will be from the severums. I have found them more aggressive than a lot of people claim, especially with each other. A lot of stocking with cichlids is trial and error. A spare tank or even just a divider can go a long way in providing temporary sanctuary for a would be victim.

Your stocking is fine except for the ebjd but many of them are quite peaceful so it’s really luck, I would say more geos for the stocking like others said
