I've awoken this morning to this. Blue skies and....what is that, it's so shiny and bright, ahhh my eyes. Is it an asteroid maybe. Lol.
Such an unexpected and beautiful unblighty type start to the day. I do believe a bike ride is in order, though I'll have to get all my gear on because the temp is hovering around 1-2°C.
....about 70 degrees today but very windy. The sanitation crew was very late today and neighbor's recyclables were blown all over the street after their bins were knocked over by the gusts.
A little late but Saturday and Sunday it was near 70F and sunny but breezy but of course it was just a teaser because Monday afternoon it was 35F with a tiny bit of snow.
Today's temperature here at home is supposed to rise above 0C, and the remainder of the week we are expected to have daytime highs in the 2 - 4C range. I'm pretty sure this is the first time we have exceeded the freezing point since early Nov or late Oct last year. Woohoo!
Considering the insane amounts of snowfall that have accumulated, a slow and gradual spring thaw would be nice as it would lessen the chances of ridiculous flooding that can occur if all the snow melts at once. Looking good. This morning we have a considerable amount of fog, which imparts a very unique and ethereal look to the snowy landscape. The first few geese have begun to return from the south; the local Great Horned Owls have begun calling and nesting; spring is coming!
Now, if only it would start to show up back at the jobsite in the north; currently -23C at work, and I fly back up in a couple more days...
Live an hour north of Winnipeg, Manitoba (often referred to, not-so-affectionately, as Winterpeg).
Work at a hydroelectric site almost exactly 1000km straight north from home.
Here's looking out the back door...won't be sitting in the deck chairs anytime soon. There are currently three 150-gallon stock tanks, upside down now, lined up against that little fence behind the small tree on the left. They're 24 inches deep/tall; they're there...somewhere...
And, yes...we don't have a lot of California-style long-hair surfer dudes 'round these parts...
