The beach scene has an idyllic peaceful look to it. My wife and I have made a dozen trips to Cuba ( 😍 ), several to Mexico ( 😍), the Dominican Republic (😖), Panama (😍), and a few other similar "tropical paradise" destinations. Most were great...most, not all...but after a couple weeks we were cooked clean through and ready to go home. Nice places to visit...wouldn't want to live there. We always went to somewhat remote far-from-town spots, eco-lodges, etc. No casinos or nightclubs or other touristy crap, and didn't miss it at all.

That first pic? We'd likely visit a place like that once, if the price were right...but I really doubt that anyone would be willing to pay us enough to get us to do that.

I have no answer for that, body just wakes up when it wants to... I wish I could sleep more but right at 6 hours of sleep, the brain wakes up...
I'm the same way, 6 hours is about my maximum in a night. When I was working, I would be up every morning at 4:30 - 5:00, and continued that routine on my days off and my weeks home because it's a lot easier on the body to get into a routine and keep it going. Guys who slept in several hours on a day off laughed at me...but I laughed at them because they didn't know it if was day or night half the time. I always set an alarm, and almost always woke up minutes before it went off.

Obviously, when you're tired there's nothing that feels as wonderful as a good sleep, but...I really begrudge the time lost to sleep, and would love to not need it. :)

Springtime is wonderful, as the natural world comes back to life after the winter's freeze. Everything is green again...birds are migrating and singing and nest-building...weather can be delightful. Yesterday a friend and I spent the day catfishing, and it was beautifully sunny and warm. Fish were biting well, and the Channel Cats were running, with hundreds of three-foot-long fish splashing in the shallows near shore.

When I got home near suppertime, I immediately lasered all the stock tanks to check temperatures; I'm anxious to bring a bunch of fish outside from their winter quarters in the basement. The outdoor tanks all read between 60F and 62F, while the in-ground pond is still down about 8 degrees cooler than that. Everything I intend to bring outside would be fine in those temperatures, but I just need to feel confident that we don't have a last cold snap waiting in the wings. When I left in the morning, the forecast didn't call for any surprises...but this morning the updated one calls for several days of 50F-ish highs...and several nights of 35F to 40F lows...and a threat of snow!!! :WHOA::cry::wall:
