hey guys, a friend of a friend is letting me have his 18" silver, ive got to collect but biggest poly box ive found is only 20x18 and personal im not happy using that, so what could i use? It needs to be liftable by two people and be easy to get and cheap? Thanks people!

You'll have to have a big plastic bag first which can hold the aro and water in place, then place the plkastic bag in a rubbermaid for support. I'm not sure if it would be ok to place the aro in the styro directly since it might jump and bang itself.

When I moved my 20" silvers I got some LARGE bags from my LFS and then just coursed them into the bags added in some blackwater and placed inside of box with styrofoam to not swish around in the car ride. Bags were filled halfway with tank water, all went well for me let us know how you go about it and how it works out for you. Congrats on the new addition as well.

it depends on the amount of travel involved.

A big container with a lid, with battery operated airstone, has done the trick often. There are several threads in here about long distance aro travel.

?Its silly to tell people to do that bruce, i wont... ive lost barbels from a 14" green in the same size box.....

The distance is only 10-15 miles.... down two junctions of motorway so no need for a air pump.... itll be in drip longer than transit! Live in uk so rubbermaid tubs are not common to find, nor are they cheap.....

How about a 2.5' round x 2' deep plastic bucket.... and something for a lid? doubled over thick cotton sheet with string tied rond the edge/lip of bucket to lash down the sheet?

i would get a big clean trashbag i know sounds bad but only bag big enough? and clean it make sure no leaks and it should pull it off if its really only 10-15miles..

the best method is big koi bags and a metal coat hanger

rap the koi bags around the coat hanger this stops the bags flapping around in the water when tryng to catch the aro

then just make the aro swim throw the loop/coat hanger then turn the tank lights off

then put a hose into the bag and drain some water out of the bag so you can lift it out of the tank

this is a tryed and tested method it works every time no broken barbels

then place the bag into the polybox

barbels only get broken if the aro is placed directly in the polybox the bags act as a soft cusion if the aro jumps

yea i agree about coat hanger n koi bags to catch, but the weird thing about that greenie is it is the only aro ive transported in a bag inside a box, the others done fine in just boxes? Lol sorry guys gota be akward... How about koi bag into one of them huge 2'+ pvc garden buckets? Double bag n no lid? Id like to take corners out of the equation..?
