How aggressive are ornate bichir's?

great looking gulpers. Bichirs only eat their tankmates when they aren't well fed. I always feed my bichirs sinking pellets at night time when all the other fish are sleeping. this way when the bichirs are out hunting for food they get 100% of the pellets and they won't use their nocturnal hunting skills on their tankmates. I find if I try and feed my bichirs in daylight, my choco cichlid and giant gourami just eat all their food.

Thanks for your advice but I decided not to take any chances and he's now in my 220g. At first he was picked on but he has found a new home in my driftwood.

thats good news, I keep all mine in a 225 and there are 2 pieces of driftwood in there, one ornate has a cave under the wood in the middle, and the other has a cave under the wood on the left side. when they do bump into eachother they pretty much ignore their existance. my senegal spends all his time swimming up and down like a stumpy little retard (hes a semi short body so hes just getting wider and taller not longer)

you have any pics?

so ugly.. yet so cute... love to have a lil school of those guys some day!
