What usually happens is he will wipe out all other fish in the tank. If not when the eggs are laid then definetly when the fry start exploring. Sure its a true Synspilum? 100% pure Synspilums are not easy to find and he should have eaten your plants. They like lettuce. Post a pic if you can.
How agressive are Vieja Synspilum?

Mine is a candy butt however he has plenty of tankmates that keep him on his toes. If raised in a small tank (less than 125 gallons) I would think they could get pretty terretorial, I had one back the day that was pretty mean but again it was in a smaller tank. I would call them semi-aggressive. All vieja and some what aggressive with some being down right evil.

Mine was the most calm fish i had, but sometimes he just went psycho. One day he decided to kill a 10 inch Jack Dempsey.
i have 3 of them one at 11 inches and a pair at 6-7 inches all of them are mild,they will defend themselves but the usually don,t start any problems.
