How bad is this aro's eyes ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i wouldnt add salt aros are now brackish water fish :D

i never add salt for anything

melafix all the way

i dont think it is lack or ox that done it as the was fresh water running into the tank the whole time this problem happened

temp drop would not have caused it

the only thing i can think that made the eye go like that is chlorine burn

melafix is great stuff i use it all the time with my rays with no problems

the only way it chould have been lack of ox is if your tank is badly over stocked

salt won't bother the arow in low concentrations, so there is nothing to worry about there. aside from salt, probably doing NOTHING other than monitoring the water parameters is the best move right now. more often than not, the more a tank system (one that is already in flux) is messed with, the worse it gets and the harder it is on the fishes--

Salt will do wonders...

IMO the condition is your water. I recommend a LARGE water change. Take a look at the barbles. they are starting to look like bull horns plus his gills are starting to curl.

I had a silver in an overstocked 180 and he started to have the same symptoms. Tested the water and did a water change and added salt. The barble went back to normal in a few days. His eyes cleared in a week or so.

i always look at like this if i had a cut on my hand i wouldnt like salt water put on it i would hurt like mad

i would much rather a nice smooth drop of tea tree oil :D

I lost him today....it's a sad day...

It pisses me off that this is all happening due to my neglence....there are so many I wish I had done this, that and etc...but I just have to move on. I am gonna get a silver and black for next time. I have always wanted a black aro but I was always afraid that they won;t get along, so maybe by getting them at juvenile age, I can get them to get used to each other. I am just trying to look ahead and look at the bright side. Needless to say this is a sad day...
