Yeah...but why take the chance, especially when your snake gets bigger and gets bigger prey?
I've fed live before, closely monitored and the rat has still bitten one of my Burms. That was the last time I ever fed live and will never do it again.
You feed live and you see the prey biting the snake? What do you do? Attempt to take the prey away? That's only going to cause added stress to your snake and possibly you getting bitten.
MUCH, MUCH safer to feed fresh kill. It's not hard to take a live rat, thump it on the head, to knock it out and feed. It's still warm, has a heart beat and your snake knows no difference...and, there's not a chance of injury to your snake.
IMO, feeding fresh kill, or weening your snake to eat frozen, is being a responsible keeper. Every rescue I have has numerous scars from feeding live. The snakes that I've raised, not a single one has even one scar.
