how big could my jag possibly get

im getting rid of all my other fish in my 125 so its just going to be him. he's 9 inches right now and approximately 13 month old. I have him eating hikari cichlid gold large pellets, he puts down about 8 a day along with like 5 crickets every few days. im going to get freeze dried krill and nightcrawlers in his diet once the others are gone. I do a 50% w/c once a week. temps r at 80f. im running two fluval 306 filters. do you think I could get him to 16 inches if I stay on my grind without slacking and how long should it take? also if I throw in a female in another 6 months will that hinder his growth in anyway?View attachment 986714

thank you. and yeah you shouldn't have a problem there so common people are always raising them then ditching them at lfs (unfortunately)

Mine is around 13-14 inches, he is normally quite peaceful but sometimes get a rough with his mate. She is almost as big as him so can give as good as she gets most of the time, but sometime she hides when she has had enough.

Idk when my father had pairs the males would grow faster than the females but the male was larger to begin with

When you pair fish up females grow slower as a lot of the energy they have goes into producing eggs

ohh I see, poor fishy. my female convict was paired with a male parrot cichlid I had I think she was trying to breed but he was sterile. she literally didn't grow
