I'm curious what the largest Brycon you guys have heard of being raised in a home aquarium?

Melanopterus in particular????

And pics of any large ones?????

How big would one have to be in order to achieve MFK legend status????

Think A Amazing-Fish had a big brycon with his dorado in a vid a while back.

I know that vid shows that brycon to be big but not sure. Think even Rapps had a big melanopterus that was the store mascot. Not for sale. It was a large fish from what i remember.

Well, normally there would be a pic of my dead Brycon here. But since this site tells me "the file is too large" I guess I'm **** outta luck....

Awesome.

Well, it was just short of 20". Guessing the thing to be over 10 years old. Lived in VLDesign's big ply tank for a few years, then came back home for probably half a decade.

Defintely sucks, but flip side - it was a good run.... Hurts to see pics like this of fish that you're so used to seeing swimming around fat and happy, but also makes you realize that if he was fat and happy for over 10 years then maybe I didn't do such a terrible job. Been through a lot of crap over the last 10+ years. This was actually the second time he layed in the yard. 1st time was after we moved 2.5 years ago. I found him on the basement floor blood smeared around about a 2' diameter mess that looked like a crime scene. I took him outside dropped on the ground and the fish flopped. I quickly rushed him back to the pond and held upright in the current till he could swim and he eventually took off......

Of all the years in this forum Ive never heard of one larger then 16".
