My guess is he's at his max size. They reach sexual maturity at ~2 years, He's probably >4-5 years but once he's full grown, there's really no way to tell.

Does he get a white belly now that he's adjusted to the tank? We have many, long-term pufferkeepers at my forum. You may keep your puffer however you wish but I am suggesting how to keep him alive the longest: http://www.**************.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21998

so then do you have experience taking a mature large spotted puffer that has been in fresh water for years and converting him to BW?Couldn't that change after all these years possibly kill my fish?Hid belly is white.

I forgot to mention the 6" length stated for this species, does not include the tail.

Did you read the article? I believe since this is a GSP variant, you'd be best to slowly bring his SG up to 1.004, by adding enough marine salt to raise it .001/week. Try a search for them & you'll see there isn't a whole ton of info on this species. Rarely have they ever been spoken of anywhere.

as far as your other questions go i have 1200 gallons of cycled water over here and i don't get into debates on "tank size" but i do have huge tanks.
I must have been posting at the same time as you posted this. Great to hear but you have to understand, I mostly speak to folks that have no idea what they're doing in this hobby. ;)

I'm sure he'll love his large tank. A 55g would be perfect. I wouldn't trust him with tank mates.

I'm sure the folks over at my forum would love to hear all about him, we don't get many folks who find these special giants. :)

You're very welcome & congrats on your special purchase!
