I have snakeheads in a local river and am going to catch one how big of a tank do they need:confused:

I moved your thread. Though they do live in the NA, they aren't native and we have a snakehead forum on this site. You're likely to getting a better responce in there. I should warn you though in you live in NA, trasporting and keeping a live snakeheads is illegal and can lead to some serious fines, I don't know if it's worth the risk to you but I figured you might as well know about it. And while your out there catching them, make sure you don't put any back. They need to be permanatly removed from American waters and less in the water the better.

way 2 big

Yes and no;) . some grow to over 1m long over 3 ft. the big boys would be the Giant Snakehead (Channa micropeltes), And the Great snakehead. Channa marulius. Then you go down to the small ones know as Dwarf snakeheads. One of the smaller ones would be Channa gachua or Channa bleheri getting to about 10cm-20cm I think there is about 25 different species of Channa so there is something for every one from fairly docile to a killing machine.

Take a pic and we can tell you what you have its more than likely to be a northern snakehead (Channa Argus) they get to about 33 inches

If it was caught in the U.S. it's likely C. argus but if in Florida it could be C. marulius.
