How big does a Pike cichlid need to be to ID?

Hey guys I got my first pike cichlid today. Anyways it was at my LFS for like $12 so I picked him up. He is roughly 2-3inches atm. Should that be big enough to ID?

It depends on the species. Several are easy to ID at that size, others not so much. If you can get a good pic, post it up and we'll give it a shot.

Ok cool thanks here are some, are they good enough? Its hard to see but he has some red in his top fin and some yellow in his bottom fin

Looks like a belly crawler to me with that pattern/colors/shape.

I've had a couple of these over the years and they are great to keep and usually don't cause any trouble. max around 7"
