When it boils right down.....isn't any Pacu, in a "tank"...overcrowding it.

It's kinda like the "Fur" argument. Don't buy a "New" fur Coat!
BUT...

If you live in a cold climate...and you get a "vintage" fur coat from the Thrift store....then in essence...you are recycling. Using someone elses throwaways. It is much more tragic to see something going to waste.

The same might be said for Pacu's
If you see a Pacu at the Fish store...and you can give it a larger, home than it has at the pet store....
aren't you giving it a better life?? It may not be the ideal situation...but it's better than being cat food.



That's just my opinion.
It sounds like someone is a little cranky???

Regardless of "Which" "overcrowded Pacu" tank you were referring to....your posting was very negative and just darn unfriendly....

mine is my pangassius sanitwonsei, he is 80cms have a lot that will be a lot bigger, but at the moment this is it, and trust me it's big and large in real life.. these pics are old, from an year ago i think, he is now even bigger eheheh

300 gallon. We're in a wait and see mode on the tank. We'll probably have to go bigger in the future. I think the pacu are about 20 inches--it's hard to tell, they turn and face us if we approach the tank. They are rescued fish which my husband picked up at a moving away yard sale. This is what he brought home in a 55 gallon tank:

After spending hours every day doing 100% water changes and vacuuming out poop in that 55 gallon tank, we were determined to have an easy maintenance system. This required a bare bottom tank. Our big tank has been running for 13 months now. With very innovative mechanical plumbing, there has not been any debris or feces to vacuum out of the tank....There are two large plecos also in the tank. The tank is undecorated, because the pacu tend to freak out and go berserk. For us, the fish are decoration enough, and we know they have a good home with excellent water parameters.
