How big should fry be before releasing into wild?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 10G tank would work great for them...

I kept mine in a ten gallon tank till about 1 inch. That what i would recommend for you as well. Be sure to fill up the ten gallon with water from the original tank. Good luck.

Yeh, I had a 7 gallon which they were in, but I had to move them into nets, in the single tank, because I was going away (still am away), and it was easier for my mate to feed in one tank.

I don't think I've lost anymore since. I released most of them into the main tank, and I think they're all fine. Have still got a bunch at 0.5cm in a breeding trap. Will be putting them into the net/7G when I get home.
Thanks

sometimes the parents are too young to spawn off healthy stock... i don't know if this is the case with you..but if this was their first time... it could be a possibility.. that the fry are weak... a little older parents.. and usually second time around make a better batch of babies..

Not sure how old the parents were. I released them into the big tank about a week ago, and they were ok for the few days I was at home. ave been away for the past week. Go home in the next few days, so will check them then!
