How big should I go?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your point being?

How many bichirs do you stock in a 120 then?
My point being you're being rude. it's upto the OP to follow someone's advice.
Senegals maybe 4 . No lower jaws tho.
I've seen endlis, ornates, pbb ''chad" in a 120.

A senegal is an upper jaw
My bad I meant no lower jaws in a 120 , plus no ornate.
The thing is when OP asked for an advice every member has the right to give one and it's upto the OP to follow whichever he wants to.
Someone giving a better advice is not trying to be a hero of the group.

An arowana would be happy in a 6x3 for a long time. Seeing 4’ aros in captivity is very uncommon. Find me 2 members on here with 4’ silver arowanas. Exclude the members that acquire the fish already at large sizes.

I think that’s the problem here, people always base recommended tank size on absolute max/record size. Most captive bred fish or fish in captivity don’t get to these max sizes and if they do, it’s usually over 5-10 years before they do.

The numbers come from MFK hero’s who think all captive fish reach max size yet most of them will not follow the guidelines they preach for their own fish. If you have a 300 gallon tank and want a silver aro then buy one. It will be better off with you then the other tank it ends up in.
