I thought that too but once I saw this I went ? I've seen 10 yr old tinfoils but none were above 12"

I think that’s the problem here, people always base recommended tank size on absolute max/record size. Most captive bred fish or fish in captivity don’t get to these max sizes and if they do, it’s usually over 5-10 years before they do.
