How can I acclimate brackish to FW?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you are better off not trying it. keep them with some salt.

most true brackish water fish will not do well long term in full fresh. they tend to be dark in colour and fungus up easily without salt (eg. mono argenteus, archers, scats etc)

even mollies do better with some salt rather than no salt.

what species are you trying to wean off the salt?

You woudl want to do a drip acclimation, but 12 volt is right in that its not worth it to try.

males have a long "penis like" fin called a gonopodium on their underside.

females have a triangular shaped fin on their underside.
Can you explain to me this "penis" thing you speak of?

I'm pretty sure it would take longer than the average drip acclimation...
