how can i make a tank like this

Looks like some sort of "crystal"... very likely a mad made version made out of glass... possibly even a clear resin...

I've not seen it at my LFS but I confess I rarely look at the rock they have available...

The pieces coming in from the top are likely glued to the lid in some way as opposed to floating...

no my friend likes mellow looks not fruity pebbles he wants white gravil with some of glass things for his tank.

they look like large pieces or quartz. its a silica based rock. but i agree, i think it looks kinda silly.

white gravel will probably turn brown over time due to poo and algae growing on them, just to let you know.
