I have a 100 gallon tank with a Marineland C360. Its an African, South American cichlid mix tank. The PH is about 6.2. I tried doing a lot of water changes, that worked but was only temporary, it went down after 3 days. i tried aragonite but that didn't help at all, i think it wasn't enough for a 100 gallon, i only used about 8 lbs. Please help, the color on my cichlids aren't as nice as they could be and they aren't breeding.
thanks

i have alot alot alot of sea shells mixxed with playsand and live sand, my ph for the africans stay around 8.1 also i heard live rock can do the trick as well and since africans like the rock work you can put a few of them in there.

also if you dont want that stuff in the tank you can build a sump and put live rock/live sand/sea shells all in the sump and it would work like a filter keeping the ph up.

anyways the easy way live sand and sea shells. whats your tap waters ph at? mine is around 6.1 so its not to hard for me to raise it.

im not a fan of chemicals but there are some that can raise your ph for you.

I'm guessing your KH might be a little low. If you have a test see where it's at and reply back. - N

Crushed coral as substrate works like a charm, when i had african cichlids this is all i did and it worked great i had three generations of fish for many many years. My wife is begging me to set up a african cichlid tank again.

Live rock or live sand is a waste of money for fresh water tank.

How about some Texas Holey Rock?

If you don't want crushed coral as substrate, you can always bag it up and put it in your canister filter.

how much of the crushed coral or substrate would i need? i dont want to change the substrate so i will probably have it in my filter. BTW my tap water ph is 7.6

Depends on the size of the tank. I have 2 women's stockings full in mine(much cheaper than the sacks they sell at LFS). Each one is about the size of my fist. I have those in my Fluval 405, running in my 55 gal. tank.
