Bichirs grow at different rates even if they are from the same batch. I'm talking samples of at least 10 fish. In my experience, bichirs will grow in spurts when they are above 6". I have had indivduals that have not grown much for about 6 months then suddenly catch up to their clutch mates. If you plan on increasing the temps and the water changes then I would also feed them more often. Try twice a day. They grow much faster on fish fillets than just pellets. I never saw any real increase in growth from feeding prawns as oppose to pellets.

I have a Delhezi that has not grown more than 2 inches in the last year and I have an ornate that has grown about an inch every 2 months for the last year and an endli that has grown about an inch a month since Feb.

I do 30% waterchanges once a week in a 240 gallon which sits at about 80 degrees. The bichirs eat hikari sinking carnivore pellets and live tubifex worms. The endli and ornate both love the worms while the del won't touch them. Maybe that contributes to the growth rate or maybe it just has more to do with the species...

From what i have read everyone seems to think Delhezis are slow growers.

yeah, i notice that they go through growth spurts, never really know when it'll happen. mine grew slowly when they were babies and just recently started to blow up.
