Go to a hub, not a pack-n-ship place. The hubs -as common carriers - have to take pretty much anything. They can make crazy rules (eg - firearms *must* go next day air @ nda rates even if nda service isn't provided to the destination) but they gotta ship. Only exception is what fed government says (eg - ammo must go ground, be marked as orm-d small arms ammo, and must be less than 66lbs total weight).
Now if they don't do guaranteed early am delivery to your destination, etc. then it may be harder especially with the weather to get fish live. I'd call and ask to arrange to pick it up at the hub in the wee hours of the morning when they are packing trucks. Then again, a coworker's husband packs and drives so I'd just ask him to make a phone call
