I want to take a jump into a nano saltwater with a mantis shrimp. How much would it cost for a whole 20gallon nano setup? If any of u have done it how much did it cost you? Try to make a list. Also try to post helpful info such as lightin costs and coral or just some good places to buy live rock or coral. Anything will help me.

P.S>wld one or 2 peacock mantis be best for a 20 gallon

bump........

dont know much about sw but my nano fw tank cost me a grand total of like, 15$ (minus cost of CRS)

kk well salt im guessin wld be about 100-200

lets break her down for ya! tank ( assuming glass but acrylic may be smarter for manties) $30 light and hood $20 5lbs of live rock $20-$50 the 4"MINIMUM of live sand you will need to accomadate a shrimp $15-$20 the filter $30 and the salt/chems/food/ livestock is about $50 you should keep one per tank cuz they will kill eachother and they are expensive. hope i helped! any Q's just pm me!

You can't keep 2 mantis shrimp together.

i just set up a 10g tank for one of my employees capable of housing corals for a little less them 250 and that was including tank, filter, rock and sand

if i were u i would buy your rock locally so u can pick the pieces

for filtration i used a emperor filter

and on a tank of that size make sure u do your water changes religiously

Isn't an Emperor for FW? No need for FW filters on a SW tank. Live rock & a skimmer is all you need, except for a powerhead to more the flow around the rock.

yes but a filter does wht a power head does it makes water disruption allowing oxygen to get into the water

True, just don't use the media that comes with them. I do use empty HOB filter as a sort of mini-fuge with only LR in there & then they add some flow to the tank.
