had tanks when i was a kid my grand daddy bought me two 90 gal tanks with a salt water set up, but i didnt take it seriously..then i found two empty 75 gal. tanks at work complete with filters from a bar we owned that closed down, I thought why not put it to use...bought myself an aro, then the rest is history.....:)

From reading fish magazines, my interest in the nitrogen cycle...:screwy: , mum was against the idea of having a dog then...

my dad has always had tanks in the house all my life...and thats were i picked it up...and come to find out...my grandpa had fish tanks too..and i have never seen my grandpa and my dad never lived with him...

Age 12, pet store going-out-of-business sell-off allowed me to pick up a 20 gal setup for cheap, with in a week I found an ad in the paper "deceased husband's tanks for sale". With my parents money I picked up a 35 gal acrilic, bullnose-cornered tank w/ all parts (filters heaters pump). After a few months we moved and the tanks were broken by the movers. 15 years later my wonderful wife heard about my old hobby and decided to buy a gold fish bowl for christmas. She asked me about what was needed...found another ad for a 29 gal setup (again cheap-see a pattern here?) and 10 days before christmas, my wife's present was up and cycling as was the 29 :headbang2 ...somehow a 10 gal set up showed up on our doorstep...I'm taking the secret origins of that tank to my grave (as far as the wife is concerned-we were strapped for cash at the time).

After 6 months or so, the convicts and silverdollars were "growing out" of the 29...we bought a house and waited another year...now my basement sports 400 gals of water (180, 125, 29s, 20, and 10s) and a plethora of cichlids.

Hi my name is Carg and I am an addict...I haven't bought a tank in 3 months...DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE!

I saw a dragon goby, and saved up for a year to get a 55 gallon aquarium

Growing up my grandmother had a 10 gallon with guppies and I would set there and watch them for hours. So I was probably 5 or so when she gave me a 10 gallon that she had picked up at a garage sale and she supplied me some guppies. By the time I was about 7 I was given a 20 gallon that a neighbor was not using. By 7th grade I had a 55 gallon. Now after 20 some years I have 4 tanks running and 7 more in storage waiting for me to get the fishroom built or move to a bigger house.
