Plecos and loaches will suck off the discus' slime coat off. When the discus is sleeping when the light are off the loaches will pick on them at night since they are nocturnal. Neons are also mass produced and will possibly come with diseases. Cardinal tetras will do better at higher temperatures which discus prefer and they do look similar to neon tetras.

False. :screwy:I know several discus keepers and breeders that keep them together. I keep plecos and loaches with my discus. Multiple species of each. Neons are a great addition to a discus tank... All of the for-mentioned fish are frequent tankmates with many seasoned hobbyists. I must disagree with your statement..

To answer your question... I would go 20 or so discus. clown loaches and assorted plecos depending on your taste, preferably smaller species....

P.S. any pics of that big giraffe cat.. I wanna see

Yea thats kinda the number im looking at around 16-20 with the clowns and some nice smaller plecos.

I have some pics in some of my older threads i think you can see some of him in my last few FS threds as well he doesnt look that big in there but hes a porker nice and fat.

Discus, Plecs, and clown loaches, some of my favorite fish all in one tank. Good plan Regalt! Oh and I agree 15ish Discus and a handful of Loaches. :grinyes:

i dont know about the discus but i would say in a tank that size you would want about 250 to 300 neon tetra to make a good sized shoal , i have 70 black phantoms in my 125 uk gallon tank and its not busy enough.

I'd go with 10-12 discus and about 20-30 neons and 6 loaches with some killer drift wood..........

pfft! Thats what I got in my 120G!!

This is a 400 Gallon tank we're talking about. Discus love to school, I say 25 minimum!!!

I'm Agreeing with about 20 Discus. As for other fish i would use good judgment, if it looks full don't add anything. Also my experience with plecos and Discus is that you maybe stumble across problems if their isn't enough algae for the pleco to eat.

My discus ate all of my neons and ate a lot of smaller tetras. Not typical, there may be only one of twelve doing it just be aware that each fish can have a unique disposition. The best plecos in with discus are the bristlenosed variety.

Well I picked up two last week about 3-3.5" there an orange color with like black powdering around there body one has some stripes in it but you really cant tell, they still pretty skittish. I def cant wait to get more in there ill try and get some pics of them and of the tank soon.

on a side not regalt I have some pretty big good looking drift wood. if your looking for any
