how do black molly's breed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you are having trouble breeding mollies, you either do not have a male and a female, have not yet waited 28 days or are keeping your tanks in such miserable conditions the fish don't want to breed. Nothing special at all is required to get livebearers breeding.

Just in case you don't know, the way to tell the difference between a male and and female molly is that the male has a rod shaped anal fin wile the females is normal. If you do have a male and female just wait for around a month :) .

They are much more likely to breed in a large tank.
Put them in the 55. Add a lot of floating plants (real or fake) for the babies to hide in.
They will eat their young, so you need to provide hiding places.

not to be graphic or anything.but males have theyre peni*'s out like we do. and the females dont. if u see somthing long and black coming from the molly when hes chasing the female. you know what it is. i got mine to breed like crazy at around 79 degrees. added a tiny bit of salt. and separated the babbies from the parents. raise them up on crushed flakes.

oh and the 5 gallon tank is fine as long as the mollies arent too big. they will breed it just takes patients. about a month
