This is my first time buying a fish online. When he arrives, are there certain acclimation processes. He's a 5" Flowerhorn going into a 75g with 82' temp, and a ph of 8. There are no tankmates other than a synodontis and no decorations. Though the tank does have a homemade concrete b'ground. I think he may enjoy his new...anyway, anything I need to know?

you will get different answers. if I buy from a lfs I drip acclimate them, but fish shipped are in the bag for much longer and usually medicated to keep them calm. if you open the bag you can cause ammonia to spike. you can add a few drops of prime, but what I do is float the bag unopened for temp. then open and put the fish in. it will take a fish much longer to acclimate to your PH then adding a little water to the bag every few minutes. I did this with wild discus and my fish are fine. some will disagree but this is the way my supplier suggested I do it.

just drop em in??

So, I should actually net him from the delivery bag and put him in the tank and dump the transport water? Sounds easy enough.

I'd drip acclimate him regardless. Just throwing him in your tank may throw him into PH shock if your PH is different from what he's use to............

If the PH's are close and the bag has floated for 20 mins or so to temp match, I can dump him in? He's a 5" FH and he's been traveling alot lately.

when i got fish shipped to me temperature was my biggest issue. i would bring it to temp then just dump him in. the bag's water will be very polluted.

put the bag in the tank for 10 minutes, just to get it used to the tempereture then open the bag and let it swim out or if you dont want to have alot of nitrates in your tank just put 1/2 of the water in the bag in
