I think he's right. I have tried everything to get good color and the only thing that makes any significant difference is more water changes, as I already do big water changes. I fed my motaguense all kinds of stuff to bring out color, especially foods high in the red pigment. Didn't and haven't seen much there. When I started doubling his 60% waterchanges to get his tail to heal faster I noticed a greater color improvement. I'm sold. It just works your butt off.
So true. That's the rule I keep by. My fish have a longer menu than I, and their water cycles out at least once a week. I don't even bother with any other "tricks".
