dont know how much it costs your tank i doubt cycled that fast how did you cycle it fishless or did you use fish?

both with fish and without fish

I suggest getting a aquaclear filter, AC110 should do it. Also bacteria that brake down nitrate need to have an adequate amount of surface room to grow on. I suggest adding another 2 inches of substrate and putting in a sponge filter.

just ordered 2 sponge filters..should b here this week..i'll def add more substrate..
No worries bud. superquick 'very general' overview

Nutrients = wastes
Wastes need to be processed.

NH3 (ammonia) , & NO2 (Nitrite) are converted via Oxygen loving bacteria.
(NH3 is also assimulated via plants in various settings.)

NO3 (Nitrate) is converted via Anaerobic (Oxygen Limited) bacteria, assimulated by plants & diluted via waterchanges.

Looking at your pic, shallow gravel base, high O2 priority, few plants, & mechanical filtration. This rules out anaerobic conditions in the bed, possibly the rock, the filter, leaving only the plants & water changes to have a crack at your trates.
Thats the natral route at least, im sure plenty love their chemical approaches.

Just asking the question at any rate. Food for thought
what exactly would u suggest i do?? everythings fine as al the test results except for the nitrate..

Guidance can be provided. I'm assuming this site would have an overkill on qualified persons willing to assist your learning curve should you ask for it.

The Two questions im going to ask you honestly is,

 • Are you happy just having fish to look at & fill a fish tank every now & then, or.... are you now willing to find out more of the reasons why everything works the way it does?.
Both are fine by the way, I've even seen people flirt the boundaries of each respective camp. Each to their own.

 • Do you truly understand what effects a full blown cycle has on a living creature?.
From the starting blocks unless your in acidic environments, NH3 among other things, effectively limits / restricts oxygen transportation within the fish's blood stream. As you can imagine, it gets progressively less peachy after that. So lets chalk it up to rookie ways now that we're wiser (Dont worry- we've all been there) , however I ask that you please refrain from subjecting anything living to that past today ok.

idid a 75% water change filled my tank back up to only 50%..so its only half way fool..added my chemicals to clear up tap water..pbass are lovin it..thier eating more n moving around alot more..anyone know if having the tank only half full is better for them for now?

Make sure you are helping the cycle along with some bottled bacteria/culture (tons of dif products). If u r running a new filter on a new tank with fish in it AND doing huge frequent water changes u could be upsetting the bacteria as it is trying to get established. If ONLY nitrates are high (not ammonia or nitrite) ignore previous, get a bigger filter (may need more than sponges in future), double check nitrate readings, keep doing big water changes, get more substrate (and maybe more plants) and reduce the number of feeders. Good luck.

Test your tap water for nitrates. If low or zero, fill up your tank to dilute the nitrate.

Also avoid huge swings in temperature when u do waterchanges. What temp is your tank at?

water temp set at 89..i did alot recently to the tank..nitrate test kit before was expired..i bought a new test kit n showed low nitrate..pbass are aggressive more then ever now..eating chopped up frozen krill blackworms frozen blood worms and a few are eating pellets..they attacking anything i put in there..i threw about 70-80 tiny pieces of chopped up krill n it was gone in no time..

Nice
